Tarek Said has managed operations at several small and large nonprofit organizations and has a lengthy track record for helping a variety of progressive organizations reach their goals. He credits his professional career to a four-year stint of institutional fundraising at the YMCA of the USA in Chicago, IL. While there, he worked closely with several experienced development professionals who were responsible for raising tens of millions of dollars in support of innovative human services programs across the United States.
In 2012, Tarek founded Giving Root, a consulting business focused on helping small nonprofits fundraise with the use of new technologies and constituent relationship management tools in order to streamline fundraising operations. Tarek joined FLYY in 2014 as the Development Director and was responsible for financial development at FLYY, securing the necessary funding for its distinctive wilderness expedition program. From 2016 to 2020, Tarek helped lead the organization as Executive Director and currently holds the position of Finance Director.
Tarek is committed to using his experience at FLYY to ultimately help the agency grow as a critical mental health agency for youth in his community. Tarek has a B.A. from John Carroll University in Cleveland, OH and completed the Nonprofit Management Certificate Program at Northwestern University.
