Lucy McLellan is a professional counselor and registered drama therapist with a passion for working with trauma. Lucy is committed to supporting clients as they navigate the impact of harmful gender scripts, and sexual and domestic violence. She also specializes in maternal mental health and places attachment patterns and strategies at the heart of her understanding of complex mental health.
Prior to training as a therapist, Lucy worked as a professional actor and her creative, energetic way of being in the world continues to shape her presence as a therapist. She will meet you in the intensity of your emotional experience as well as laugh with you as you heal, placing relationship at the heart of treatment. She strongly advocates for the use of embodied techniques in therapy, and takes a stance of justice for ALL bodies. She is strengths-based and sees power and humanity in all.
Alongside her professional training as a creative arts therapist, Lucy is a certified practitioner of Trauma Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT), Child Parent Psychotherapy (CPP) and employs mindfulness techniques in her work with clients of all ages. She believes strongly in self-care and also knows how hard it can be to experience compassion towards self. She loves to dance, sing and connect with friends. Her work brings her great purpose.
